Roger Daltrey wants to record with Led Zeppelin legend Jimmy Page

Roger Daltrey says that he'd be up for a collaboration with Jimmy Page. Daltrey kicked off his current string of solo shows opening for Eric Clapton on February 25th at Pittsburgh's Mellon Arena. The Who front man told BBC Radio, that he's game to record a blues album with the Led Zeppelin guitarist, saying, "I'd love to do something, I'd love to do an album with Jimmy Page. He needs a singer to drive him. I'm a great blues singer. I don't sing the blues with the Who, but that's what I used to be before Townshend started writing. I used to be a great blues singer."

Daltrey had hoped to record an R&B/blues-based covers album with the Who last year with T-Bone Burnett -- who coincidentally produced Robert Plant and Alison Krauss' Grammy Award-winning Raising Sand album.

Pink Floyd, Ozzy, Who Converse Shoes Coming

Converse shoes have long been favourites with musicians, and now the company is set to release its British Rock Series line that will pay tribute to Pink Floyd, Ozzy Osbourne and The Who. Three types of Pink Floyd shoes — featuring artwork from 1972's The Dark Side Of The Moon, 1975's Wish You Were Here and 1977's Animals — will be available. The Dark Side Of The Moon shoes will be sold in Converse's Chuck Taylor All Star high tops and Jack Purcell low tops, while the Wish You Were Here and Animals versions will only be available as Chuck Taylor high tops. They'll run you $70 to $80. Osbourne designed a set of Chuck Taylor high tops with an Ozzy logo and drawings representing the devil and an angel on them. They'll cost $80. Two versions of Who Converse Chuck Taylor high tops will also be available in March. The first is emblazoned with the Union Jack and has The Who logo on its tongue. The second is blue, orange and white and features an image of singer/guitarist Pete Townshend jumping. The former will cost $90, while the latter is $80.

Mickey Mouse Signs Racing Deal!!!

The House of Mickey Mouse is back on the racetrack. Disney has revealed a new action racing game for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 titled Split/Second. The game is being developed by Black Rock Studios, the creators behind Disney's other racing title, the off-road themed Pure. The drivers in Split/Second compete in a reality television show, racing through locales in a made-for-TV city. Like Electronic Arts' Burnout franchise, Split/Second emphasizes vehicular mayhem and destruction. However, according to the statement from Disney, racers can also trigger explosive moments that alter the track or create new race paths. Split/Second looks promising, especially when you consider the critical praise given to 2008's Pure. Many critics for providing a casual yet addictive racing experience lauded that game. This also marks a shift for Disney in the video game industry, highlighted by this Associated Press feature. The company's Disney Interactive Studios have increasingly taken more projects in-house and, according to the article; plan to invest more than $200 million this year in overall game development. Split/Second is slated for release in 2010.

AC/DC Tribute From "Hell"

Veteran Toronto musician Lorne Ould loves his classic rock. So much so that he’s played the roles of both Alex Lifeson in a Canadian Rush tribute band and Angus Young in Ontario’s own, apparently now-defunct AC/DC cover band, AB/CD (not to be confused with similarly named tribute bands in Sweden, Italy and Ireland!) Ould’s own video tribute to the legendary rockers is not only a musical accomplishment, but also a home computing media tour-de-force.  Perhaps taking his cue from Paul McCartney’s pioneering 1980 video for "Coming Up," the 40-something Lorne tackled a cover of AC/DC’s vintage “Hell Ain’t a Bad Place to Be” where he not only multi-tracked all the musical parts, but videoed himself performing as all five band members. He then composited the images together seamlessly on his home computer, creating this unique one-man tribute to Australia’s greatest hard rock band. Check it out for yourself, and note that the “cymbals” on Lorne’s “drums” never move – they’re only a digital still image!

Cheech And Chong To Reunite

Thirty years after firing up the stoner comedy genre with their first feature, "Up in Smoke," the duo are reuniting for their first comedy tour in more than 26 years. Plans for the Live Nation-promoted comedy tour, dubbed "Hey, What's That Smell?," were unveiled at a news conference at West Hollywood's Troubadour, where Cheech and Chong's druggie buddy act first gained traction in the early 1970s. From 1972-85, the pair released nine comedy albums and eight features, all of which were helmed by Chong. Since they parted ways in the 1980s, Marin has carved out a niche as a character actor and become a prominent Latino arts advocate. Chong's career has been choppier, hitting a low ebb in 2003 when he was arrested and subsequently served a nine-month prison stint after pleading guilty to a charge of conspiracy to distribute drug paraphernalia through his Nice Dreams-branded water-pipe business.

The Beer With Real Gusto Returns

It’s the beer that made Milwaukee famous. Now Schlitz is making the city nostalgic. That beer with the old-time mystique is back on shelves in bottles of its original formula in the city where it was fast brewed more than a century and a half ago. Schlitz was the top-selling beer for much of the first half of the 20th century. But recipe changes and a series of snafus mad the beer – in many a drinker’s opinion – undrinkable, turning what was once the world’s most popular brew into little more than a joke. But after decades of dormancy the beer is back. Sit back, relax and "Pop-A-Top" as you watch the Marshall Tucker Band and 38 Special pitch for the "Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous".
